how can you help a friend that is cutting them self?

i have a friend that is cutting them self. i talked with the school counselor. they were super mad at me at first but i kinda think they know i did it because i care and i love them. i tried talking to them about it before it happened. i know i did the right thing. i am glad i did but i feel like i lost my best friend. i really do care. i feel so bad that they would have done this. they say they didn't do it on purpose but if they didn't they why were they trying to hide it? they are getting help but i feel like maybe they is something else i could do.

  1. You've really done all that you can...now just be there for them. If they want to talk to you, listen. If they ask for your advice, tell them. If they don't want to talk about it, then don't force them especially now that it's in the counselors' hands. Eventually your friend should be grateful that you cared enough to report them. All you can do now is be the amazing friend that you already are. Please answer mine http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtcWCo7mYmInYCK.vYJL92WzFQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20100203195741AADCtID
  2. be the friend--u want2b be----just love the person and hope that person gets help--go visit -be happy that they r getting help--ok--
  3. If there having difficulty, you could maybe buy them a sharper knife, or possible even give them a hand doing it. Have you ever tried cutting your right wrist if your right handed, hard as!!!
  4. well give your friend some emotional support and just try to make their days a little brighter....you pretty much did all you can do without getting your friend too upset so dont feel so bad about it. just see what happens with the counselor and if nothing seems to help then tell the parents before things get outta hand
  5. Yes, Buy them a gun so they can't screw it up anymore.
  6. What you did is the fastest and safest way to help out said person, it's the counselors job to dig down deep and find out what issue is causing your friend to harm him/herself. Your a good friend for doing so, and it indeed shows that you care and wish them the best.
  7. if this is really serious, you have to confront them, tell them you REALLY care about them and you don't want to see them hurting themselves. maybe you can ask their parents for help? try not to be too harsh on your friends, don't be like 'why are you cutting yourselves?', try to be in their shoes for a while. just be a good and trustworthy friend and maybe they'll understand. wish you the best.
