what alternative learning methods are available for an active 9 year old?

He s very bright however is having problems with math spelling reading. We tried some mnemonics (times tales) and this worked really well. Now i'm hoping to find some more mnemonics or other ways to help him.

1. You should maybe get him a tutor in those subjects and if he doesn't improve then you should try teaching it to him in a song or something musical and easy to remember.
2. I saw this movie about autistic children that were all active and unable to focus and they used some active, hands-on activities and by the end they were in this musical where they were singing and dancing. So, following that logic I suggest getting him involved with school sports or even sports between the two of you. You can take him for a game of tennis anytime he has extra energy to burn or something of the like.
3. have u tried Montessori style teaching it worked for me i'd give you a link but I dont pay much attentionto my computer skills (dont know how to do it)
4. Math is absolutely pointless. Once you learn the basics of math, (add, subtract, multiply, divide) there is no reason for further teaching. For spelling and reading, I recommend you let him play a game called World of Warcraft. Now, I know you might be like "Oh, my God, that game is so bad" it's actually not. I learned to type neat, extend my grammar and vocabulary, how to spell, how to interact, how to control money, and best of all, how to read.
